Do You Know When Your Lash Supplies Expire?

When most people hear the word “expiration date” they automatically think of food. But did you know that your lash supplies can expire too? How often do you put away one beloved product to try another, and then break out the old product a year later? The time has come to clean out your supplies and update your inventory, so you can give your clients the best products and service ever.

Lash Supplies Expire

Adhesive: Most lash adhesive has a max life span of 3 months. However, if you take care of your adhesive, store it in a cool, dry place and shake before every use, you can get out about 6 months of use.

The main ingredient in adhesive, Ethyl-2-Cyanoacrylate, can break down over time. Also, the ingredients can start to separate, weakening the bond.

Mascara: If you’re using mascara daily, it can run out quickly. Even if you aren’t using it daily, the brushes in these products tend to collect bacteria that could lead to serious consequences for your eyes. Like the adhesives, the mascara ingredients can also separate over time. Refresh every 3-6 months.

Cleansers: It’s extremely important to keep cleansers fresh and new. The ingredients that make cleansers so great (Aloe, Cucumber, Green Tea Extracts) can soil after time. To get the most out of your bottle, use it everyday, and you should hit the refresh time right around 6-9 months.

IntelliSeal: IntelliSeal life varies depending on the use. If you’re a lash artist and are using a clean swab or mascara wand to apply the sealer, the IntelliSeal can last up to 12 months.

If you’re a client using IntelliSeal, it’s best to refresh around 6-9 months as the wand can get infected.

Under Eye Gel Patches: Because under eye gel patches do have a sticky side to place on the lashes, they can expire. The expiration of under eye gel patches depends on what kind of climate you are in. If you’re located in a dry climate, the collagen will dry out quickly and a box may only last about 6 months. However, if you’re in a humid and moist climate, gel patches can last up to a year.

InfinityLash: If used as directed, InfinityLash should only get you through 2 months of use. But. we understand that some products are put on the shelf and then forgotten. If you’ve had you InfinityLash for more than a year, it’s time for a toss out! The proteins, when combined with the other ingredients, can break down overtime.

Lash Primer: While a bottle of Primer can be used up in six months, its shelf life is a little longer. The Chondrush Crispus, also known as Irish Moss, has a long shelf life and keeps the primer fresh and effective.

      Hi Tanya!

Lash extensions tend to go bad or expire after a year. The chemical components that hold the curl and integrity of the extensions tend to break down. Other environmental and storage factors could play into why your lash extensions are losing their softness. Always make sure you fluff out the extensions before use! You could also try giving the extensions a lash bath to introduce some moisture and soften them back up again.

      Hi Erica,

The products in the kit are good for about a year unopened!
